Jakarta Fair

Place : Kemayoran Fairground In the centre of 'old' Jakarta
Description:
Part of the city's Anniversary celebrations, the Jakarta Fair sees exhibitors from across the country display a whole range of goods and products ranging from speciality food items to traditional handmade arts and crafts. In addition to the many exhibitors, there is also live entertainment including music, dance and cultural performances.

Jaksa Street Festival

Place : Jakarta, Indonesia
Description:
Jalan Jaksa is the main backpacker and tourist street in Jakarta, and is lined with cheap accommodation, budget restaurants and friendly bars. Each year it celebrates its diverse identity with the annual Jaksa Street Festival which includes live music, local Batawi art exhibitions, craft stalls and sporting contests. The sole goal of the day is to have fun and entertainment usually carries on late in to the night.

Isra'Mi'raj Nabi

Description:
Isra 'and Mi'raj is believed as one of the events in the world of Islam that give effect to important rituals and patterns keberagamaan Muslim community as a whole. Isra 'is believed as the spiritual journey of the Prophet Muhammad from Masjidil Haram to Mas-jidil Aqsha, while Mi'raj is a journey from Masjidil Aqsha next to Sidratul Muntaha. Through the Isra 'Mi'raj this is, the teachings on prayer as much as 5 times gain legitimacy as part of the rituals of Islam.

Flora and Fauna Festival

Description:
Indonesia is well known for its huge variety of flora and fauna and as such, it attracts specialists and other interested groups from all over the world. Among the events planned for the festival are seminars on plant care and propagation, rock climbing and painting competitions. There is also a competition to choose Miss Flora.

Indo Independence Day

Description:
The Indonesian Declaration of Independence was officially proclaimed at 10.00 a.m. sharp on Friday, August 17, 1945. The declaration marked the start of the five year diplomatic and armed-resistance of the Indonesian National Revolution, fighting against the forces of the Netherlands until the latter officially acknowledged Indonesia's independence in 1949.

A quick glance will tell you that there really is quite a bit going on in Jakarta.

Of course most of the events are geared towards the local population and as such the language used will be Indonesian - but don't let that hold you back - go, (especially to any dance or puppet show) you'll be surprised how warmly you are welcomed.
